Portugal

At the start of the year, we were approached by Luis Antonio, an entrepreneur from Portugal. He asked us if we could assist him and his students in bringing FIRST to Portugal.

With the experience of our previous international project, opening a FIRST league in Vietnam, we had gained plenty of experience, and did not hesitate to help.

Step by step, we, along with the Portuguese students, founded the first FTC team in Portugal– #33535 ThunderStrike. During the process, we made numerous powerful connections. One of those, being with FIRST Holland, where ThunderStrike competed in three competitions (one of which they won!!). This particular connection allowed us to organise the first ever competition in Portugal- an off-season that was held this July!

Throughout the whole project, our team members kept close contact with ThunderStrike, supporting and mentoring digitally, and even flying to help them during competitions.
This is an example of how “The Power To Inspire” transcends borders. Even if the location is thousands of kilometers away, we can paint it green.
